English Teacher: Do you study another language?
Darby Laai: For sure yeah.
English Teacher: Why?
Darby Laai: A couple of reasons. First, because I want to be able to understand when someone is talking trash right in front of me with the bartender in another language...like Polish for example. And second, I want to watch movies without the subtitles in another language.
English Teacher: Uh huh....right...ok then. I like your second reason better than the first.
Darby Laai: Ok thank you I guess. They are both true.
English Teacher: Do you think it is important for young people to learn another language?
Darby Laai: Extremely important.
English Teacher: Why?
Darby Laai: Oh teacher in that last answer, can I say extremely important even if it is a yes or no question?
English Teacher: Be patient and we will discuss it after the training session. Why do you think it is important for young people to learn another language?
Darby Laai: I think I would have to say the reason is that it is much easier for young people to learn a language than for older people. Therefore, young people should take advantage of this opportunity because it will be much more difficult later in life. That's what I think anyway.
English Teacher: What is the best way to learn a language?
Darby Laai: By reading things that you are interested in hands down.
English Teacher: Why?
Darby Laai: Reading is the best way to learn anything in my opinion.
English Teacher: Do you need to know another language for the job you would like to do in the future?
Darby Laai: I'm not sure.
English Teacher: Why not?
Darby Laai: I suppose it's because I know the job that I am doing right now is important...and I know that because everybody has told me to quit or give up or settle. So maybe another language might come in useful...gotta learn the first one well though right?
