In the training session example, Darby Laai practices a sample IELTS task from Part 1 of the test. The English Teacher follows the task prompt, and he waits until the appropriate time to deliver his feedback comment.

English Teacher: Is it common for people to wear a watch in your country?
Darby Laai: No I can't say that it is.
English Teacher: Why not?
Darby Laai: I suppose it's because many people just use their mobile phones to check the time these days. That's what I have seen anyway. Like when you are sitting in a coffee shop and suddenly your friend pulls out their phone to check the time, but they end up checking all of their messages and social media posts and leave you looking like a fool sitting there in front of them while they do whatever they want...Oh and then they expect you to give your full attention to them when they stick their head up and are finished checking the time.

English Teacher: Uh huh...ok then...well...ah hem...Why do you think some people like to wear a watch?
Darby Laai: Just to show off for some people.
English Teacher: Why?

Darby Laai: Good question. I suppose they think that just because they have the money they can talk to everyone like they are the boss...so they wear a nice watch to show off and show how much money they have. That's gotta be the reason why.
English Teacher: Let's skip to the last question in this task to keep to the time. Do you think wearing a watch will be common in the future?

Darby Laai: I do actually.
English Teacher: Why?
Darby Laai: I would have to say the reason is that technology on watches such as sending messages or making phone calls or checking the internet is getting better and cheaper. As a result, I think more people will wear these more advanced watches on their wrists in the future.
English Teacher: You used some good alternatives to start your reasons, which is important for grammar and vocabulary. By the way, nice answer to the yes or no question after the first question about how common watches are. Let's move on now to talk about...
